Prototype Sidecar cargo carrier H1

24 Jan
I have finished the bike and side cargo carrier (Sidecar) (Prototype) I am very impressed with the handling
corners right and left just like a normal bike, The only problem I have encountered is forgetting the sidecar is there because it is behind side vision, first off I ran over a couple of shrubs in the front paddock, then I took it for a road test and forgot it was there so needless to say I ended up with the sidecar wheel on the footpath. I think there is a need for a rear mirror so that you can see the sidecar. I would hate to run into the back of a parked car?

Coupla pics to brighten the day

Heres a nice Malvern Star road bike, this is very much like the first bike I ever owned, which was a Daws Debonair white and not a bad bike for the money, it was a fairly heavy bike too.

Peace

Things are very quiet after the Floods, I know we can expect these sort of things to happen, but the turmoil it creates is not good. So far 2011 as not started off real well, and we can only hope that things improve dramatically, I supose if we all keep our fingers crossed this could be the case.
But as Murphies Law seem to dictate the course of life for most people, what more can I say?

H1

I am building a tilting cargo/sidecar for the H1
at the moment the sidecar can be lifted up over the rear of the bike, I dont know untill I ride the bike if this is needed?
I will finish It and then decide, has you can see from the pics there is no problem with leg trap because it can be finished behind the pedal area, Cargo deck can be approx
600 x 700 mm or a large plastic bin or two with lids, not really intended to carry a passenger but at a pinch I recon
you could carry at least 5 kids on the bike or three or four adults. dont know if you would be able to stop on a steep hill, Interesting thought.

My New Bike

This one I picked up last week and I felt sorry for it, the bearings in the crank where RS, and someone had stripped the head and missed putting spacers in so you could'nt steer it, cleaned up quiet nicely.
Before and After pics.

Busy

At the present time I am doing too many things, or trying to do them. Three Long Johns, Two Long Tails, and about five or six bikes, choppers, BMX, Vintage etc. The weather with the rain as been one of the major problems it means I can only go so far with anything I start, like I cant paint etc, so I have been starting another project. Anyway its all good fun
so I will persevere and just go with the flow.

Long Tail Bicycle R1

Oh and a picture of the long tail bike R1
this ones extended to 800 mm between the crank and centre of the back wheel, was originally about 400 mm
gives a comfortable 700 mm back top deck and could easily carry two large suitcases on the side racks or a pillion passenger.
